Meet the Glitter Lemonade Team: A group of women dedicated to empowering a new generation of active, philanthropic and engaged members of society.

Halle Madia
founder, ceo

Halle graduated the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and is now an Agent at Innovative Artists Talent and Literary Agency in New York City. She lives in Princeton Junction with her husband Michael and their two daughters Ruby and Esme. Full Bio.

Melissa Pillik
director of mission advancement

Melissa is the Business Manager at the Lawrenceville branch of Bright Horizons, the world’s leading provider of employer sponsored childcare and work life solutions. She was introduced to the world of philanthropy through their forged relationship with Bright Spaces, the signature national program of the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children. The Bright Spaces program provides at-risk children in homeless shelters and transitional housing with a dedicated, warm and enriching area to play and learn. Inspired by those making a difference in her work place, Melissa pioneered Glitter Lemonade’s first ever Buy One Give One Free movie ticket event to benefit the families in HomeFront’s care, a non-profit organization whose mission is to end homelessness in Central NJ. Melissa lives in Bordentown with her husband Ken and their two sons Rees and Grant and continues to advance Glitter Lemonade’s mission, by providing parents with creative kid-friendly efforts designed to introduce philanthropy into early childhood.

Katie Pottinger
director of communications

Katie has worked in the fashion, beauty and media industries in New York City since beginning her career as an editorial assistant for ELLE magazine in 1994. After working as an editor and fashion reporter, Katie turned to the world of publicity, representing clients such as Sephora and St. Martin's Press among others. As an in-house magazine publicist, she has been involved with many titles, including Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies Home Journal, Traditional Home, More, and In Style. After leaving the publishing world, Katie began a solo career in media training, preparing clients for appearances on national television, radio and press tours across the country. "Outside of being a mom, spreading the word about Glitter Lemonade is the most meaningful job I could have," she says. "Seeing the joy these kids get from making positive change and watching their world view open up--it's an incredible gift." Katie lives in Hopewell, NJ with her husband Rafael and their two sons Alexander and Oliver.

Rory Bernstein
director of web development

Rory started building websites in 1996, when she learned HTML on the side while earning her M.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Upon returning to New York, she started creating web sites during the boom-boom Dot Com days, first at IAB with Roger Black and then on her own as a freelancer. She now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two daughters and works for Sonnet Media, a small NYC firm that specializes in web sites for authors, publishers and creators of PubSpring. Without Rory, Glitter Lemonade would still be just a good idea; not a passion project brought to life.

Elizabeth Carben
graphic designer

Upon graduating from the Fashion Design Program at Syracuse University in 2004, Elizabeth worked in the Uniform Design & Young Men's Apparel Industries as a Designer and Product Development Manager. After the birth of her daughter and many years of commuting to New York City, she founded her own company Carben Design Studio. Specializing in custom Stationery and Kids & Baby apparel, Elizabeth launched her website which has become the go to place for one-of-a kind designs. She currently lives in Ewing, New Jersey with her husband Anthony and their daughter Selena and is proud to champion her cousins Ruby and Esme, as they give back to their community and serve people in need via Glitter Lemonade.
